Welcome to EASM 2010 Prague Conference website

The 18th Conference of the European Association for Sport Management

Welcome words

Mikel UrdangarinOn behalf of the Board, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the official site of the 18th EASM Conference where you will find conference news and information as well as information about our wonderful host city, Prague, capital of the Czech Republic in the heart of Europe.

Since it began in Groningen in 1993, the EASM Conference has been a huge success, providing a great opportunity to promote and develop sport management through networking, study and research - not to mention the opportunity to make new friends, meet old acquaintances and discover new European cities!
This September it’s Prague’s turn to be the host city and in collaboration with Charles University we have put together a high profile social conference and student seminar which we are confident you will enjoy.

Thank you for your support and loyalty to EASM.
I look forward to seeing you in Prague this September.
Mikel Urdangarin
President of EASM

Irena SlepičkováWe are delighted to invite you to Prague, the Czech capital with one hundred spires! It is an honour for us to host the 18th conference of the European Association for Sport Management. For the first time, the conference EASM is held in the Czech Republic and organised by the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, one of 17 faculties of Charles University in Prague, one the oldest European universities.

The motto of the conference “Bridging Sport Management across Europe” reflects our wish to bring together people involved in sport management, no matter where they are coming from – East – West – South – North. Previous EASM conferences have been attended by many academics and professionals not only from Europe, but also from North America, Asia, Africa and Australia. Therefore it will be a pleasure for us to welcome guests not only from Europe but from all continents. The students’ seminar, a traditional part of the conference, offers the future generation of sport managers an opportunity to build new contacts and enrich their knowledge in this dynamic branch.

At the present time, the family of sport managers consists of many excellent academics, professionals, politicians, and other personalities contributing to the development of sport. We hope that the topics we offer at the EASM 2010 conference enable all participants to share their knowledge and experience with others. As invited speakers we expect experts from the European Commission, universities, sponsors of big sport events, etc.

It is our hope you will join the Prague sport management conference and you will help to contribute to its idea “Bringing sport management across Europe” and rather more “Across the world”.

See you in Prague in September 15-18, 2010.
On behalf of EASM 2010 conference,
Irena Slepičková
