Grand Tour of Prague

PragueIn paralel with the opening of the Congress on Thursday September 3, 2009 in the Diplomat hotel, registered accompanying person will set off by coach on an exciting one day exploration of the city of Prague.

This insightful historical tour lets you enjoy the city’s most famous sights. The tour starts at Prague Castle (Hrad?any), registered as the biggest castle complex in the world. It established itself as the spiritual centre of the Bohemian sovereigns from the 9th century and since 1918 (foundation of Czechoslovakia) it has served as the residence of presidents. A visit to St. Vitus Cathedral is included. The tour then follows the “Royal Route”, the former promenade of kings and part of the official coronation by foot. PragueWinding down to Lesser Town and picturesque Kampa Island you will cross the famous Charles Bridge and continue to discover remarkable monuments in the Old Town area. Historical tour of the Old Town of Prague lets you enjoy the city’s most famous sights such as the Powder Tower, the Estate Theatre, the Charles University, the Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter and other sights. You will discover the astonishing history of the Jewish community in Prague, which can be traced back to the middle of the 10th century. Miraculously many outstanding monuments have remained intact despite WWII. The visit includes the Jewish Museum located in various Prague Synagogues and Old Jewish Cemetery.
This remarkable journey ends in front of the Old Town City Hall with its extraordinary astronomical clock.
 
On the Thursday evening full delegate and partners are invited to an evening welcome reception in the Diplomat hotel.

 

Karlovy Vary – Spa tour

On Friday the lucky partners will continue their programme with a tour of Karlovy Vary spa. Founded by the Bohemian King, Charles IV, in the 14th century, Karlovy Vary / Carlsbad is the most famous of the Western Bohemian spas. Taste the curative water from twelve thermal mineral springs, admire the beauty of both the historic and modern colonnades, sample some of the delicious wafers special to the area, admire or buy the local Carlsbad porcelain and traditional Moser cut glass (justifiably referred to as “The Glass of Kings”), or sip the delicious Becherovka herb elixir also known as the 13th “curative” spring of Karlovy Vary. The spa specialises in treating digestive tract diseases and metabolic disorders. It’s renowned reputation owes to significant visitors, such as, Peter the Great, Schiller, Paganini, Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven, Freud, Kafka, Gagarin and many others. Karlovy Vary is also known for hosting its well-known annual international film festival.

After this all day tou rout of Prague the Friday will culminate in a gala dinner for full delegate and their partners. The gala dinner location is still to be determined and thus remaining surprise.
